Composite fillings, also referred to as filled resin fillings, are comprised of a glass filler or quartz. The dentist numbs the gums and teeth along with the area around the tooth with the cavity with the use of a local anesthetic to minimize pain. A drill is used to remove the decayed portion of the tooth. The composite filling is molded so it is the perfect shape for the tooth. The filling is added in layers that gradually accumulate to fill the vacated hole. The dentist might also use an ultraviolet light to ensure the filling is cured in place. Porcelain Veneers

Grant Family Dentistry’s porcelain veneer application requires two appointments.  A deep cleaning is performed to eliminate surface staining.  A shade guide helps gauge the proper color for the veneers so they blend in with your teeth.  A dental lab then makes your porcelain veneers.  The enamel along the front of the teeth is gently modified so they serve as the optimal base for the veneers.  A local anesthetic is provided when enamel alterations are performed to eliminate the potential of discomfort.  Dental cement is added to the front of the teeth so the porcelain veneers can be secured in place.  The dentist cures, finishes and polishes the porcelain veneers so they look amazing.
